FOUNDATION SITES
In order to address the complexity and diversity of Roses' history, the Fundació Història i Natura has embarked upon an ambitious project, whose culmination will afford residents and visitors alike a comprehensive perspective. The aim is to achieve this through five museum sites:
° LA CIUTADELLA - THE CITADEL
The La Ciutadella museum reveals its history through six sections: Origins, The Greek Colony, Imperial Rome, The Late Roman Period, Medieval Roses and Modern Roses.
° PARC MEGALÍTIC - MEGALITHIC PARK
Roses' megalithic route provides an opportunity to explore a rich array of remains belonging to the earliest local inhabitants, some dating back as far as Neolithic times (4,000 BC).
° EL CASTELL DE LA TRINITAT - THE CASTLE OF THE TRINITY
This military fortification, dating from 544, was commissioned and built, together with the La Ciutadella, during the reign of Carlos I.
° LA PUNTA FALCONERA - FALCONERA HEADLAND
La Punta Falconera is one of the more characteristic features of the landscape in Roses and from there one may look out over the waters between the islands, Illes Medes, and the cape, Cap Norfeu.
