LA PUNTA FALCONERA (FALCONERA HEADLAND)
The Punta Falconera is one of the more characteristic landscapes in Roses. Its strategic setting, which overlooks the waters that lie between the islands, Illes Medes, and the cape, Cap Norfeu, have meant that it has been used in the past as a lookout point and for the surveillance of sea-going vessels.
Furthermore, the considerable natural wealth – both on land and in the sea – imbue it with extraordinary beauty and mean that it receives special treatment, given that it is part of the Cap de Creus Nature Park.
A refurbishment plan is currently being studied with a view to including the site within the city’s cultural, environmental and tourist circuit, as well as to condition the existing buildings and infrastructures for public use (they were formerly used solely as military installations).
This refurbishment plan, known as the Pla per la Recuperació i Dinamització Socioambiental del Paratge Natural de Punta Falconera, foresees making public use of this area, with a view to socio-environmental dissemination and the creation of a multi-purpose centre that will cater for activities linked to nature, culture and social and educational purposes.
